Jazz Brugge is celebrating its fifth edition! This biennial festival was first organised in 2002 when Bruges was Cultural Capital of Europe. Since that very first edition, in the brand-new Concertgebouw, we have resolutely opted for European jazz of the greatest artistic quality – not always easy in a genre historically and commercially dominated by the USA. It is a choice that audiences greatly appreciate, not least because European jazz musicians go for a more adventurous and creative interpretation of their music. Moreover, the first-rate locations and instruments guarantee an optimal visual and acoustic experience. As on previous occasions, this fifth edition will be spread over three halls. For the first time, we will be welcoming you every afternoon to the attic auditorium of Memling in Sint-Jan (the former St John's Hospital). This will be followed by a piano concert in the Concertgebouw’s Chamber Music Hall and two or three concerts in its Concert Hall.
