10–13u: WORKSHOPS
with Nathalie Loriers (piano), Bart Defoort (sax and clarinet), Lynn Cassiers (vocals), Marc Godfroid (trombone and trumpet), Peter Hertmans (guitare), Jos Machtel (bass) en N.N. (drums)

We start from four standards. How are they structured, what exactly are chord sheets, what do you do with them? … Your workshop leaders will help improve your insight and give you helpful hints for improvising solo. All levels are welcome, but do enrol in good time, since numbers are limited!

14–16u: MASTERCLASS
with Frank Vaganée

Alto saxophonist Frank Vaganée is mainly known as the artistic leader of the Brussels Jazz Orchestra. Together with his orchestra and soloist Bert Joris he will be playing the main stage at Jazz Brugge for the release concert of their latest album. In the afternoon, however, he will explain the ins and outs of ‘improvisation’ in a master class where the standards of the morning workshops will be further deepened.  You can either take a seat and listen, or actively take part on stage. So do make sure to keep your instrument handy.

17–18u: JAM SESSION

The workshops and master class have taught us quite a bit about improvising, scales, chords and the structure of the played standards. High time for a real jam session on stage with fellow-students and the unconditional support of our workshop leaders. After a quick rehearsal and sound check, the doors will open to let in relatives, friends and fans!

PRICE
Attending only the master class costs € 15,00.
To attend the full day programme (workshop, master class en jam session) you will pay 30,00 - including the entrance fee to the top concerts by Ben Sluijs/Erik Vermeulen, the Saga Quartet, Courtney Pine and of course the release concert of the Brussels Jazz Orchestra with Bert Joris.
